One of my favorite things about being a writer is helping other writers. Sometimes it seems counter-intuitive, when the main goal of being a writer is to write and produce something worth sharing with the world – be it a flash fiction, poem, or novel. To put pen to paper, and pour your heart into your work, and have it mean something to someone else.
Lately, my work as a writer has actually been that as a reader, and being able to read new books before they are published. It’s a special kind of joy to be a part of the “Advanced Reader Copy” Club, and support other writers. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, I feel like it it also takes a village of writers to support a writer. Plus, when it comes time to write, my brain will be better primed for the task at hand (at least I hope so!)
Anyhoo, Patrick B. Simpson and I are long-time friends, going on 20 years! From the days of dorm living up at Frostburg State as teenagers to adulthood and all of its challenges, the common thread in our friendship has been writing. When I moved back home after college, I remember him cheering me on as I settled into a writing routine between job applications. One day, we’d both be published authors, I thought. Though my day hasn’t come yet (but it will), and I’m proud to be cheering on Patrick as he debuts his second crime novel Absolution, on Tuesday, April 29.
Here’s the book blurb –
Father Franklin Hayes has been a priest for twenty years. Once a drug addict, he participated in underground fighting to keep his drug habit going. Through the help of a priest and faith, Hayes left his troubled past behind him and joined the priesthood. Now he will be tested against similar evil forces when his sister goes missing and forced to return to the city he once swore off. Will the demons of his past get the best of him, or can he keep his faith and humanity intact with help from a senior police officer, a fellow priest, and a prostitute as he goes through a labyrinth of obstacles to find his only living relative?

Absolution is available for pre-order in Kindle e-book and paperback. Check it out here.
As always, if you love a book, please make sure to give the author a great review. It helps to get the book seen by other readers!
Adding Absolution to my TBR list – check!
PS – If you really LOVE crime novels, Pierce, Patrick’s first novel, may be for you!
